Material Characterization of SAE 950XK; Monotonicand Cyclic Stress-Strain Behavior and Strain-Life Response

Abstract
Monotonic and cyclic stress-strain behavior and strain-life resistance of SAE 950SK at 183HB are reported. The material exhibits a monotonic yield strength of 63 ksi, while the cyclic yield strength is approximately 75 ksi. Periodic incremental overstraining of specimens which did not fail in approximately 107 reversals reduces life by a factor of about 10.
